Turns out Gillette is still the best a man's face hair can get. | Dearest Geeks of EarthMan hair is a wild and woolly nest of unpredictability.

And while learning to tame it with the proper shaving techniques is one of of those storied male traditions passed down from father to son, it seems no one ever taught the modern man how to elevate the contents of his Dopp kit.

My dad traveled the world when I was little, and since his five o’clock shadow started somewhere around noon, he always took a precision-made, metal Gillette Atra with him, packed alongside a bottle of Wet Look and mint-flavored Pepsodent, because back in the day, shaving in transit wasn’t an afterthought or a chore involving those cheap, disposable razors they give out at hotels when you’ve forgotten to bring your own. It was a very personal way to gain fresh perspective, a daily ritual that started off his day with a clean-shaven slate.

My husband’s face on the other hand, ever (annoyingly) young with blondish-brown hair expertly masking any white lurking therein, can’t grow much of anything at all, yet he still enjoys a bi-weekly shave with his trusty Mach3 for the same reasons my own dad did, plus one more. Our daughter.

The cosmos slows down the littlest bit when those two are tucked up under one of her pink blankets, cheek-to-cheek with her latest favorite bedtime story, as if allowing them wrinkles in time that extend their time together. And like many dads and their daughters, he is her moon and stars, and she is his sunshine and rainbows.

Gillette asked us to make their father-daughter bedtime routine even sweeter by heading to Walmart to choose from their collection of Gillette Fusion ProGlide razors.

Jeff has used Gillette razors forever, and was skeptical about the hype – reengineered low cutting force blades with finer edges, a blade stabilizer that maintains optimal blade spacing, plus a streamlined comfort guard that channels excess shaving cream to produce optimal blade contact – because blah, blah, blah.

My hubby uses this same razor. We’ve tried generics and it’s just not the same at all! We can’t skimp on razors!

Men aren’t very luxurious when it comes to their own grooming lotions and potions (at least the one’s we know), and this seems like such a simple way to up the at-home ante.

      Who knew?

My daughter and husband also have a bedtime routine that involves facial hair. My husband shaves every morning (usually) but by evening his five o’clock shadow has come in and his face is scratchy. So each night when he kisses our daughter goodnight, she yells at him to “Please shave!!” Maybe he needs some new razors!

HA! We love how little girls know exactly what they want from life and everyone in it when they’re bitty.

(Have her slip one of these razors in Dad’s stocking this year.)

I used to get Gillette but moved over to Dollar shave club. Never going back. Never going to pay so much for razors again.

Looks like a good, clean shave! I’m going to ask hubby what he uses for a razor – I don’t even know!!!
