Set your DVRs for “The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic,” an all-new, original special in a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Lincoln Square Productions and Walt Disney Animation Studios airing September 2 at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Hosted by Josh Gad (Olaf), the special will go behind-the-scenes for an exclusive look at the origins and evolution of a timeless Hans Christian Andersen tale turned Academy Award-winning animated musical with a rare look inside Walt Disney Animation Studios; plus unprecedented access to the creative team that brought Frozen to life, including stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, chief creative officer John Lasseter, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, producer Peter Del Vecho, songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, art director Mike Giaimo, and talented artists from the art direction, animation and effects teams.

Viewers will also TV travel to the beautiful Norwegian villages and landscapes that inspired the look of the fictional kingdom of Arendelle, and see images and footage from the team’s research trips to Norway, Quebec and points beyond that helped create the film’s unforgettable look and feel.

This special will also share some exciting announcements about the next chapter of Frozen, plus a never-before-seen preview of Anna, Elsa and Kristoff on an upcoming episode of Once Upon a Time. (ERMAHGERD.)

The hour will end with Big Hero 6 directors, Don Hall and Chris Williams, sharing an exclusive sneak peek at the action-packed comedy-adventure, currently in production at Walt Disney Animation Studios, and very hush hush until now.

    It’s a FROZEN kind of day, isn’t it. I mean, my singing and all? I want to watch this, but hubby won’t change the channel….DVRing.

    I totally missed it. Tomorrow is the first day of school so bedtime was super early. Hopefully it will be available online.

    I’ll have to watch this solo in my house. My three boys are not Frozen fans- although we do sing the songs all the time.
