Rainbow Brite is getting a reboot we're not sure our childhoods understand. | Dearest Geeks of EarthRainbow Brite is back.

Sort of.

Feeln, an entertainment streaming service for families, is giving the iconic 1983 character a modernized reboot with Emily Osment and Molly Ringwald in the star roles.

Osment will voice Rainbow Brite, a young girl with magic powers and an Eliza Dooley (Selfie) vibe (it hurts) who goes on a quest to save Rainbowland from dark forces in the form of Ringwald, who voices the Dark Princess. (There’s a Breakfast Club joke in there somewhere.)

“Being cast as the voice of Rainbow Brite for the relaunch of this iconic show is truly an honor,” said Osment in a statement. “I look forward to connecting with the audience, old and new, and going on this exciting adventure together.”

Classic characters Starlite (now a “verbose stallion” that makes our sighs incredibly heavy) and the Color Kids will also return for the limited series that premieres on Nov. 6.

Until then, there’s this and an otters holding hands reference that somewhat softens the blow to our childhood memories:

Rainbow Brite’s revival is just the latest in classic childhood comebacks. Netflix recently announced a new Care Bears cartoon, and it turns out the Teletubbies will make a comeback (WHY?!) too.
