Disney just released its first trailer for ‘Cinderella’ and it’s everything we hoped it would be. | Dearest Geeks of EarthCinderella is as timeless as ever.

Disney just released the first official trailer for the live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, and from what we can see, director Kenneth Branagh has taken the original 1950’s animated masterpiece and spun it into a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation of dreamers.

Not only that, but the star-studded cast brings together Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey and Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Dracula fans, which deserves all the hi-fives.

Watch:

Starring Lily James (Downton Abbey), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, Elizabeth), Academy Award-nominee Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech, Alice in Wonderland), Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) and Nonso Anozie (Dracula), the film follows the fortunes of young Ella ( James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother.

Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Blanchett) and her daughters – Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (McShera) into the family home. But when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.

Eventually relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes – spitefully renamed “Cinderella” – Ella doesn’t lose hope. Instead, she’s determined to honor her mother’s dying words: “have courage and be kind.”

Then there’s the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. When the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Madden) are raised. Until her stepmother forbids her to attend that is.

Fortunately, a kindly beggar woman (Carter) steps forward with a pumpkin and a few mice – things that will change Cinderella’s life forever.

Produced by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Elysium), Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and David Barron (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) with Tim Lewis (Goldeneye) serving as executive producer, the screenplay is by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass).

Cinderella releases in theaters on March 13, 2015.
