12 spectacular crafts for kids inspired by 'Fancy Nancy.' | Dearest Geeks of EarthFancy Nancy, the little girl who lives for frills and furbelows is coming to the small screen in 2017, and we couldn’t be more ecstatic (that’s fancy for “happy.”)

Optioned by Disney Junior, the bestselling children’s books series is being developed into an original animated show and TV movie geared toward children aged 2-7. And, since two years is quite a long time for little ones to wait, we pulled together 12 of our favorite crafts for kids that channel Nancy Clancy’s creative spirit. Better yet, they’re perfect for keeping grade schoolers on Spring Break busy.

Feather Topped Pencils (Crafts Unleashed)

Colorful, clever and super chic (that’s fancy for “glam”), these plumed pencils come together in just three steps and easy enough for kindergartners to make. Yes!

Doll Face Necklace (Pysselbolaget)

Surprisingly easy and incredibly sweet, these little doll face necklaces come together with little more than wooden beads, permanent marker and acrylic paint. And while this project is probably best for more advanced crafters (or kids with a lot of patience), the endlessly customizable results have us completely charmed.

Paper Plate Rainbow Kids Craft (A Night Owl)

Nothing says “kid craft” like an easy-to-make project created from the inexpensive grade school basics. This bright and bold rainbow is made from paper plates, cotton balls and cardstock (or construction paper), and the sunny results have us more than ready to hi-five Spring.

Crayon Lipgloss (momdot)

Homemade lipgloss that’s easy to make and comes together in less than 10 minutes using only two ingredients? We’re in. And quite possibly addicted. However, since this DIY requires melting and handling extremely hot (read: melted) coconut oil and crayons, it’s definitely not one for the kids to do on their own. That being said, they can pick out the colors (best part) and peel the crayon wrappers without any help.

Sewing Cards for Kids (Handmade Charlotte)

Remember the fine motor magic that was 70s- and 80s-era sewing cards? This updated version is great for kids who know their cross stitch from their blanket stitch, and doubles as super cute wall decor. Just stitch and stick wherever you choose.

Glitter Vinyl Tube Bracelets (A Pumpkin & A Princess)

We all know the 80s and 90s were awesome, and this glittery tutorial proves it. While this is definitely a parent-kid project (you’re going to need someone to hold the funnel after all), that such a cute throwback comes together with just some inexpensive PVC tubing, shimmery glitter and glue has us making lofty plans for endless arm candy.

Homemade Silly Putty (Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom)

This super simple tutorial is made of nothing but win, and not just because the kids can manage most of it on their own. All you need is glitter glue, Borax and water to make this pretty putty, which we’re firmly convinced the kids are going to play with for hours.

Washer Necklaces (small for big)

Simple and fun to make, these pretty pendants have us thinking we might have the kids make a few for us while they’re at it. All it takes is some nail polish, washers, beads and suede rope (baker’s twine and yarn are good too) to put them together. We think older kids will be fine doing most of the steps involved on their own, but younger ones will definitely need help getting their necklaces assembled.

Fairy House (Musings from a Stay at Home Mom)

All you need is faith, trust and craft sticks. This how-to is all about encouraging kids to use their imaginations to create a perfectly imperfect upcycled fairy house using a combination of craft store staples like buttons, pipe cleaners and glitter; plus found items from the garden like moss, flowers, sticks and pretty stones for a truly unique result.

Paper Roll Ballerina Craft (Easy Peasy and Fun)

Ballerinas are made of win, and if your kids are like ours, twirling and swirling in costume tutus often makes for an afternoon of enchantment. This easy-to-make toilet paper roll ballerina will sing the song of their toe-shoed people, and since it only takes some paint and markers to put it all together, it’s something kids can make mostly on their own. This tutorial does involve a semi-complicated no-sew technique for the tutu, but we see no reason why your kidlet couldn’t just glue on the tulle with regular ol’ school glue for an equally darling result.

Splatter Flowers (Crafty Morning)

This project is going to get messy, but with warmer weather on the way, taking it outside might be just the thing. Super easy to make and finish with some pom poms and pipe cleaners, kids can unleash their inner Jackson Pollock to flick and drip their way to the finished product.

DIY Felt Crowns (Hello Bee)

What kid doesn’t love a crown? We know a few who love to play King and Queen of the castle, and with this super quick and easy tutorial it’ll be non-stop role play all spring and summer long. With some help (there is light sewing at the end), and some pre-assembly (we suggest cutting out the crown shapes before the kids get involved), the novice crafter can create colorful headdresses to suit every mood.

I am not crafty at all so always in awe of people who make own lipgloss and other DIY crafts. Just genius and they look perfect for little hands to be entertained.

The best part is that these are all pretty easy, Divina. Even the lip gloss!

These all look like tons of fun. My kids love to do crafts with me. I like all of these and I think the ballerina is especially inventive!

Crafts are made of win. The ballerina is incredibly sweet, though we can’t wait to try the glitter silly putty!
