5 legit good reasons to attend SoFabU on the Road Chicago. | Dearest Geeks of Earth

With so many blogging conferences spread out across the calendar each year, it can be hard to decide which one(s) to go to, invest in, and otherwise commit to months in advance. Because digital learnathons are limitless founts of glittery inspiration.

And whether you’re a seasoned blogger, vlogger or podcaster, there are always new takeaways that educate and excite, which is where micro-conferences – what I call small, one-day networking events – come in. Collective Bias’ SoFabU on the Road is just such an event, featuring hands-on interactive sessions that give attendees (50 max.) a chance to try out their newfound skills on the spot. What’s more, each track is paired with fun, city-specific adventures for a wholly unique experience.

I’ll be headed into the city for SoFabU on the Road Chicago next month, and as a first time attendee and long-time research nerd, thought you’d like to know why you should think about joining me – aside from the obvious fact that Chicago is made of glorious sky-scraping win.

5 reasons:

  •  From Blog to Business Owner

Jennifer Evers, founder of MM&J Consulting and self-proclaimed “accidental entrepreneur,” knows firsthand what it means to turn turn a passion for blogging into a career, while juggling the demands of family life. In her two-part keynote, Evers will discuss what it takes to make the shift from blog to business.

  • 5 Easy Ways to Building Your Brand Video

MJ Tam and Beth Rosen, new media innovators and professional bloggers, are always finding new ways to bridge gaps between new and old media. And whether you shoot video or not, this savvy duo will help improve conceptualization from compelling storytelling and storyboarding to professional-quality lighting and sound.

  • How to Excel with Sponsored Posts – Panel Discussion

Sponsored posts are nothing new for the experienced blogger, but there’s always room for improvement. As a writer with 10 years of experience and a member of the Social Fabric community since 2013, it’s always pretty cool to be part of a crowd that is always coming up with legitimately life-improving tips and tricks as they relate to content creation.

  •  Networking Opportunities

Aside from networking with fellow attendees, sponsors Muller Yogurt, Kraft and iBlog will be on hand to say hello and share the inner workings of their amazing brands.

  • Adventure

While this hasn’t been announced quite yet, previous #SoFabUOTR events have included lifestyle, fashion and food photography “safaris” in New York City; exclusive culinary, food styling and photography lessons led by a professional chef in Phoenix; and film production, editing and both short- and long-form inspiration with three video professionals in Seattle.

Not near Chicago? No worries. SoFabU’s upcoming stops include Minneapolis (August), Atlanta (September) and Bentonville (October.)

Disclosure: I received a discounted conference ticket for the creation of this content. All deep-rooted love of the Windy City, opinions and ideas are my own.
